Uniting Religious Congregations to Transform Our Communities

About Us

Who We Are

Faith Vote Columbus is a coalition of religious congregations, neighborhood associations, and labor unions committed to:

  • Injecting issues of poverty and social justice into state and national elections
  • Increasing voter turnout in urban precincts with histories of low voter participation and protecting the right to vote
  • Recruiting and training volunteers to engage in neighbor-to-neighbor non-partisan voter education campaigns on an on-going basis
  • Maximizing the political power of disenfranchised communities
  • Developing leaders to identify and act on issues most important to their communities

In 2008, Faith Vote Columbus organized over 600 volunteers to canvass the neighborhoods around their congregations, making us the largest independent volunteer get-out-the-vote organization in Ohio. Our volunteers knocked on over 60,000 doors, and spoke face-to-face with 16,200 infrequent voters about the importance of voting. Our efforts in 2008 have built a permanent organization that can change long-term voting patterns in these communities where fewer than 50% of registered voters participated in the 2004 presidential election.
